Spring is approaching and so is spring cleaning. Throw all your junk out and make room for a simple DIY marble tray to spruce up your place.
Materials needed:
- Scrap Marble Tile
- Metallic Acrylic Paint
- Synthetic Paint Brush
- Stone Sealer
- Hammer
- Sandpaper
- Safety Goggles
- Utility Gloves
- Old Newspapers
- Paper Plate (for acrylic paint)
- Paper Towels
- Rubber Bumpers
Step one: Cover your work area with old newspaper. With safety goggles and utility gloves on hammer clean edges for a natural rustic edge. If you happen to get your hands on a large tile, cover whole tile with old newspapers and hammer away to break large tile into smaller pieces.
Step two: Use hammer and sandpaper to soften any sharp edges (I didn’t have sandpaper in the video).
Step three: Seal your marble. Let sealant cure overnight. Wipe off residue with paper towels or a rag.
Step four: Paint edges with metallic paint of your choice. This may take two or three coats of paint.
Step five: Add rubber bumpers to the bottom of your marble and voila, finished! You can reinforce the staying power of the rubber bumpers with super glue.
